brc config ru add
brc config ru add
Declare a Radio Unit on a worker node
Synopsis
Add a Radio Unit to /etc/pontus/ru.json on a worker node. Nothing in the stack can use a Radio Unit that is
not listed in that file: the pontus-ru-report service probes exactly the declared entries, and Pontus only
publishes what the probe returned.
The file is normally seeded at provisioning time by uranus from the cluster configuration, so an entry added here is a
local addition. Re-provisioning the node rewrites the file and drops it, the same way a helm upgrade rewrites
ru-secrets.
The reporter re-reads the file on every pass rather than caching it, so no service restart is needed. The new unit
appears in brc config ru list as declared straight away and, if it answers on the fronthaul, as observed within
roughly thirty seconds.
Supplying the arguments
Give all three arguments and the command runs straight through, which is what a provisioning script wants. Leave any of them out and, if standard input is a terminal, you are asked for the missing ones: the vendor and the node are offered as a menu, since both have a knowable set of legal values, and the name and address are checked against the node's existing declarations as you enter them.
Leave them out without a terminal attached and the command fails rather than waiting for an answer that cannot come.
- The vendor must be one of
liteon, benetel, orbenetel-650. These are the values Athena's manager switches on to pick its configuration workflow. - Writing the file needs SSH and sudo on the worker node. The previous file is copied to a timestamped backup first.
brc config ru add <name> <vendor> <ip> [flags]
Examples
# declare a Benetel RAN650 on a specific node
brc config ru add ru-01 benetel-650 172.21.14.10 --node moto
# single worker cluster, the node is inferred
brc config ru add ru-01 liteon 172.21.14.20
# skip the confirmation prompt
brc config ru add ru-01 benetel-650 172.21.14.10 --node moto --yes
# leave out what you do not know and be asked for it
brc config ru add
Options
--force replace an existing entry with the same name or IP
-h, --help help for add
--host string SSH host of the worker node when it differs from the Kubernetes node name
--node string worker node to declare the Radio Unit on (inferred when the cluster has one worker)
--password string password ru.py authenticates to the unit with (prompted when interactive)
--user string SSH user for the worker node
-y, --yes do not ask for confirmation
Options inherited from parent commands
-n, --namespace string namespace to perform the operations (default "trirematics")
-v, --verbose debug output
